The Pokémon Company has been very busy this year celebrating Pokémon’s 20th anniversary. From free mythical Pokémon codes to tons of new tins and special sets for the Pokémon Trading Card Game to Pokémon Go, they have been going all out in pushing there brand back in the spotlight prior to the release of their new games Sun and Moon, and it has worked very well. The demo recently released for Pokémon Sun and Moon has become the most downloaded demo in Nintendo 3DS history with over three and a half million downloads. If that is not enough to show that Pokémon is going to be the biggest launch of 2016, according to an article on IGN (which you can read here) it is now the most preordered game in 3DS history. No official preorder numbers have been given but with Sun and Moon being the first new region of Pokémon since X and Y (which shipped over 16 million copies), I would not be surprised that, by the time it is all said and done, Sun and Moon ships close to 20 million copies. I am sure The Pokémon Company would love to see those kind of numbers to wrap up what has been a huge year for them.
