As we all know the current Star Wars trilogy is coming to an end with (Untitled) Episode IX coming out December 20th… This begs a big question, what is next for the Star Wars franchise? There are hundreds of different theories out there with what is to come for the Star Wars universe. Disney can take several different routes for the franchise, and the main focus seems to be a NEW standalone trilogy directed by Rian Johnson (Director of The Last Jedi). Outside of a new trilogy there are a bunch of rumors of upcoming solo spin off films such as Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, and some other films!
This is where we step in to play… At the Nerd Chambers we have a hunch it HAS to be one of two options… DARTH FREAKIN MAUL or the man, the myth, the legend… Obi-Wan Kenobi. I, myself (Brandon), would really love to see an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie! Disney could do a lot with the film to really fill the gap between episode three and four, and on top of that Ewan McGregor is in his prime to play a seasoned Obi-Wan Kenobi! For some people the entire prequel trilogy was a disaster, but Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi performance was the superior portion of the franchise.
SPOILER ALERT TO HAN SOLO MOVIE!!!
Another intriguing single character based story would be Darth Maul… Darth Maul has always been a fan favorite for his menacing red and black face paint, horns, and bad ass dual sided light saber. We were all very sad to see him fall to his death in Episode I Phantom Menace, or did we…? Well thanks to the newest installment to the Star Wars franchise Solo: A Star Wars Story reveals that Darth Maul was not actually dead. Hardcore Star Wars fans would know though that Darth Maul still had a presence throughout the Clone Wars in the comics and The Clone Wars TV series. Personally I never thought that they would make this cannon (relevant to the movie franchise) since he was sliced in half and underwent a some-what Darth Vader transformation becoming part machine. Well, thanks to the newest installment to the Star Wars franchiseĀ Solo: A Star Wars Story, we now know that Darth Maul is in fact alive. This revelation opens up a huge door of opportunities for the Star Wars universe to dive into a beloved Star Wars character.
There are endless possibilities that Disney could proceed with the Star Wars franchise… We at the Nerd Chambers believe that the best plan of attack would either be a Darth Maul or Obi-Wan Kenobi spin off. It would be great to get the fan service we have all been waiting for! Until next time…
