One of the most successful games over the last decade is by far Overwatch. This game came out of the gates with a boom and took over the gaming community by storm. I was very skeptical when the game first drop[ed, but I must say I am very glad I was pushed into this game by some friends. The game has had one of the best development teams for continuously attempting to balance the game when imperfections surfaced. The game was constantly changing and characters were being added throughout the life of the game. Some people are confused about why a new Overwatch is even in the works because games like League of Legends and DOTA is what Overwatch seemed to be the life cycle the game was going for. We will have to wait and see the full reason for an Overwatch 2, but as of now, this is the information we have so far thanks to BlizzCon 2019…
As of this moment in time, we do not even have the slightest idea of a release date. For all, we know it could be coming out next year, the drop of the next-generation consoles, or even years from now. Sadly we won’t be able to provide any insider information on a release date, but we can give you everything about the game itself! It seems like Overwatch 2 will be having a very heavy focus on the PVE side of Overwatch. We may have a much deeper dive into the lore of Overwatch with the PVE for what the cinematic trailer shows us. IF you haven’t had an opportunity to, please take the time to watch the Overwatch 2 Announcement Cinematic “Zero Hour” you will not be disappointed!
The PVE of the game with being driven on Hero and story missions as you battle the Null Sector. The game will have new and old heroes returning to the fray of battle. We will see a new way to improve your characters and make them own in a sense. You will be able to upgrade your heroes’ abilities, and you can even change the ultimates of your characters to properly assist you in battle! We will have to see if the abilities are going to stay in the PVE or make their way into PVP… which could cause some problems for balancing sake.
As for the PVP, it does not seem like much will be changing. We have seen some gameplay of a good portion of heroes that would be returning (Genji, Lucio, Reaper, Winston, Tracer, Mei, Torbjorn, Reinhardt, Mei, Brigitte, Bastion, Zenyatta, Widowmaker, Doom Fist, Mercy, Hanzo, Roadhog) that can all be spotted in the Overwatch 2 Gameplay Trailer( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZl1yGUetjI ).
There also seems to be some space combat in the trailer it is hard to tell if that will be PVE or PVP, but we can hope for some PVP space combat! There are four locations they show off in the trailer for PVP as well as a new game mode Push! It seems as if Overwatch 2 in a PVP aspect is just going to be a HUGE DLC rather then a new game. Blizzard has done a good job with their games so I’m sure this will feel much more than a cash grab for what some people are worried about.
What are your thoughts on Overwatch 2? Is it needed? Will this resurrect the community back to full strength again? Is this a waste of resources by Blizzard and they should put more money/time into Overwatch? Is it a cash grab? Let us know in the comments!
